Hanagal Shri Kumareshwar Hospital and Research Centre


             Established in 2000, Hanagal Shri Kumareshwar Hospital and Research Centre began its journey in the old campus of B.V.V. Sangha in Bagalkot. Initially equipped with 300 beds, it catered to the health needs of the people in Bagalkot and surrounding areas. Over the years, the hospital has grown into a well-recognized institution. The hospital was named after the revered saint, His Holiness Shri Shri Shri Kumara Swamiji of Hanagal, who was a pioneer in treating the ill with herbal medicine. Additionally, he played a crucial role in revolutionizing the concept of Sangha/Trust by founding educational institutions in underdeveloped areas, thereby spreading quality education in various fields.

             In 2004, the hospital and medical college were relocated to a new expansive campus of 114 acres, located between the new (Navanagar) and the old city of Bagalkot, atop a hillock. The institution now boasts 495 doctors, 552 nurses, 985 teaching beds, and 301 critical care and special ward beds.

CASUALTY SERVICES 

              The casualty department operates 24/7 throughout the year, managed by a dedicated team of senior medical officers. It is equipped to handle all types of emergencies, including surgery, general medicine, trauma, and accident cases. Our casualty is equipped with ventilators, defibrillators, monitors with centralized oxygen, vacuum facilities, and two operation theatres that run round the clock.

- Casualty medical officers and resident doctors are available 24 hours a day.

- Duty doctors are on call round the clock in all specialties.

- The emergency room has 30 beds, including 6 critical care beds.

- Emergency cases are given prompt attention, with priority given to treatment over paperwork such as registration and medico-legal formalities.

- The emergency operation theatre is regularly maintained to ensure it is ready for use at any time.

 

AMBULANCE SERVICES 

The hospital operates a fleet of 4 fully equipped cardiac ambulances, 2 regular ambulances, and 2 hearse vans. A team of trained medical professionals, emergency technicians, nursing personnel, and drivers are on standby around the clock to handle any situation. The ambulance service is available 24/7 for patient transportation, both to and from the hospital.

PATIENT SCHEMES 

A variety of schemes are available for patient benefit, including:

  • ECHS 

Ex-servicemen pensioners and their dependants who were only entitled for treatment in service hospital are now authorised treatment, not only in service hospitals, but also in those civil/private hospitals which are specifically empanelled with the ECHS. The Scheme is financed by Govt of India.

  • Yeshaswini 

The Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme is a community-based medical insurance program that seeks to assist workers in Karnataka's unorganised sector who fall into the middle and lower-middle income brackets.

The Department of Co-operatives runs this programme in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka. To provide the necessary healthcare facilities for the rural informal workers at a lower cost, it leverages the cash raised by cooperative societies through the Yeshasvini trust. The objective of the Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme is to offer cost-effective, high-quality healthcare throughout the state of Karnataka.

  • ESI 

The ESI Scheme is a self-funding program. Employer and employee contributions are primarily used to support the ESI funds, which are provided monthly at a fixed percentage of salaries received. State governments are also responsible for 1/8th of the cost of medical benefits

The company contributes 3.25 percent and the employee contributes 0.75 percent for all employees earning Rs 21,000 or less per month in salary, for a total share of 4 percent.

Another notable characteristic of the Scheme is that an employee's insurance number remains the same as long as he or she remains within the ESIC wage limit. Changing jobs will not affect an employee's insurance status, and his or her insurance number will remain the same.

  • CGHS 

Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is a scheme for providing healthcare to the serving as well as the retired Central Government Employees and their family members. CGHS is functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the officers of the Central Health Service (CHS) provide healthcare to the beneficiaries and handles the administration of the wellness centres located throughout India.

  • Ayushman Bharat Aarogya Karnataka Scheme 

Arogya Karnataka" was introduced by Government of Karnataka on 2.3.2018, with the goal of providing Universal Health Coverage to all residents of the State. The Government of India later introduced Ayushman Bharat. Since both Arogya Karnataka and Ayushman Bharat schemes have the same goal, scope and similar modalities, both the schemes were integrated under a co-branded name called "Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka" and is being implemented in an Assurance Mode from October 30, 2018.

Eligibility

• Basic Sum Assured is Rs. 5,00,000/- per Family, per annum for "Eligible Households (BPL)" and RSBY enrolled beneficiaries.

• For those that do not come under the "Eligible Household" as defined under the NFSA 2013 or are not enrolled RSBY beneficiaries, the sum assured is 30% of the package rate up to Rs.1.5 lakh per family per annum on co-payment basis.

How to avail the scheme

• Patients should first go to the nearest Public Health Institutions (PHIs) with their Adhaar Card and Food Card.

• They should get enrolled in the scheme and get their AB-Ark Card.

• Get diagnosis from the same PHIs

• If the PHI has capacity to treat the disease, that the patient is suffering from treatment will be provided in the same hospital

• If the PHI has no capacity or capability to treat the disease the patient will be given a referral letter and he will be able to get treatment in any private or government empanelled hospitals of his choice.

• In case of emergency treatments patient can go directly to any government and private empanelled hospitals without referral.

Till now 2984 cases were covered under this scheme.

  • DR. PUNEETH RAJKUMAR HEART HEALTH SCHEME

The Puneeth Rajkumar Hrudaya Jyothi scheme is a heart attack management program in Karnataka that aims to reduce delays in diagnosis and treatment. The scheme is named after the Kannada film star who died of a heart attack in 2021. 

How the scheme works 

  • Patients with chest pain can visit spoke centers where doctors perform ECGs and injections to prevent heart attacks

  • AI tools help doctors detect critical conditions within minutes

  • Patients with critical conditions receive free Tenecteplase injections

  • Patients may be referred to hub centers for angioplasty or angiograms

  • BPL card holders receive free treatment at super specialty hospitals

  • APL card holders receive free treatment under Arogya Karnataka Ayushman Bharat Health Card

The Jyothi Sanjeevini Scheme, initiated by the Karnataka government, aims to provide cashless healthcare services to state government employees and their families. This scheme covers up to Rs. 1.5 lakh per year for critical illnesses requiring tertiary care.

OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT (OPD) 

The OPD operates in a dedicated building with working hours from 9 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 5 PM every day, except Sundays and holidays, when hours are 10 AM to 1 PM. Each clinical department has its own section, with a minimum of 4 examination rooms, a procedure room, and a demonstration room for 40-50 students. The OPD is equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment facilities, including:

The pharmacy is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring that patients have access to necessary medications at any time, and two vehicles are provided to transport patients between the OPD and IPD.

INPATIENT DEPARTMENT (IPD) 

The IPD, located adjacent to the OPD, spans 305,760 square feet. It consists of 955 teaching beds, 301 critical care beds, and special ward beds. Admission to the hospital is handled through the casualty in emergencies and through the billing section in routine cases. Patients must select their ward category before admission, as transfers between ward categories may not always be possible.

The hospital offers different ward categories, including General Wards, Special Wards (with single occupancy for private and double occupancy for semi-private), and A/C Wards.

INTENSIVE CARE UNITS (ICU)

Biomedical Waste Management

Our college has license from Karnataka state pollution control Board for disposal of biomedical waste. 
Our college has MOU with CBMWTF for proper disposal of biomedical waste. 
"CBMWTF" has a treatment plant with Autoclaves, shredder and Incinerator facilities to treat the medical waste generated by the health units in Bagalkot district, with the permission of the Central Pollution Control Board.
