Shri. Veeranna B. Halakurki Hon. Secretary, Shri. Basaveshwar Veershaiva Vidyavardhak Sangha, Bagalkot Born on 04-12-1948 at Bagalkot, Shri Veeranna Halkurki is 53 years of age and comes of a very respectable and cultured merchant family.

A graduate in commerce, Shri. Veeranna was a student of Gogate College of Commerce, Belgaum and J. G. College of Commerce, Hubli. Even in his college days, he was very active and took interest in students welfare and social activities like starting a library in the Hostel.

After graduation he took up to his family business and sicne then he has been able to establish and maintain credit standing of the firm. Regarding his social status :
1. He was the Director of Basaveshwar Urban Co-op. Bank Bagalkot.
2. He Was the Vice-President of Merchants Association, Bagalkot.
3. He is at present, a member of the District Executive Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
4. It was in 1976, that he became the member of the prestigious Basaveshwar Vidya Vardhak Sangha, Bagalkot.     Since then he has rendered dedicated services in different capacities as
        a. A member of the Governing Council of Polytechnic.
        b. The Chairman for students welfare and Hostel Committee.
        c. The Chairman of Governing Council for B.V.V.S. Sangha since 1998 and taking lot of interest in the              developmental activities of the Sangha – a good old and renowned Educational Body in Karnataka.
        d. Mild in nature, Sober in behaviour, an admirer of Art, Beauty and Goodness, he has a bright future in             Social and Cultural life.
