The department of Pathology is involved in teaching and training of undergraduate students in Phase-II of medicine and allied courses in Pathology. Pathology forms the basis for understanding the disease processes and the structural and functional alterations that occur in the human body.

The faculty of the department play a major role in the laboratory services of the Teaching Hospital. This is essential for establishing the diagnosis of diseases, and monitoring the treatment of patients. The departmental faculty are members of the National and the State Chapter of the Association of Pathologists and Micro-biologists.

A team of well-trained professionals impart quality education to the students and also handle the following sections at the hospital.
* Clinical Pathology
* Haematology
* Histopathology
* Cytopathylogy

The department also maintains & runs the centralised sample collection centre at the hospital. The Department has separate Laboratories for different types of experiments that are carried out.

The Department also runs a full-fledged Blood Bank catering to the needs of the Hospital. All the transfusions are routinely screened for HIV, Hepatitis B & C and other Transmissible diseases.
