Community Medicine is very wide discipline of Medical Sciences. Its approach, extent, scope and dimensions are manifold. Medical students, paramedical, nursing staff, health workers, health planners and health administrators are bound to be in touch with this department.
The department has good infrastructure, experienced faculty members to undertake academic and research activities. The faculty members undertake seminars and paper presentations on a regular basis.
To train the medical graduates in above discipline following activities are carried out,
• Regular theory classes.
• Practical with stress on current problem
o Vector Control
o Water Borne
o Occupational
o Nutritional
o Meteorology
• Visit to urban field practice area to study Family Health Advisory Programme covering social economical behavioural, emotional and environmental problem of a family.
• Study visits to Water purification plant, sewage plant, milk dairy, & visit to industry.
• Medico social at Family side to stress on socio economic problem of diseases.
• Many community health activities are undertaken in Rural Field Practice area & selected villages such as Health
Camp, Cancer screening camp, Blood donation camp, Haemophilia Camp.
